Summer statement a missed opportunity to support aviation travel and tourism

Commenting on the Chancellor’s Summer Statement delivered today, Chair of the Future of Aviation Group Henry Smith MP said

Our aviation sector has been amongst the hardest hit by COVID-19 and faces a very long road to recovery and it is disappointing that the Chancellor did not use today’s statement to provide much needed support for our struggling aviation sector.

“As an island nation, we simply cannot have a full and long term economic recovery without a thriving aviation sector and it is time for the Government to act and work with industry to agree a full package of measures to allow the sector to survive, recover and play their full role in our economic fightback.

“The consequences of not acting now will be felt across our economy and throughout communities across the UK.”
