Latest measures make case for financial support for aviation, travel, and tourism irrefutable

Commenting on today’s announcement by the Prime Minister of the introduction of new quarantine rules for passengers arriving from high risk countries, Henry Smith MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Future of Aviation said:

“Whilst the latest restrictions on international travel are a necessary move, the case for a comprehensive package of financial support measures for the aviation, travel and tourism industries is irrefutable and must be delivered without any further delay.

“These industries have been amongst the hardest hit by the pandemic and face an exceptionally challenging few months ahead and its essential that the Government work with the industry not only to get them through the next few weeks and months, but to agree a pathway for the reopening of international travel when it is safe to do so.

“As an island nation, our aviation, travel and tourism industries will be a vital part of our post COVID future, but only if they are given the support and protection that they so desperately need.”
