Essential that Government bring forward full package of support for aviation, travel and tourism

Commenting on the news that the Government are yet to provide business rates relief funding to airports in England, Henry Smith MP, Chair of the APPG for the Future of Aviation said:

“The announcement of The Airport and Ground Operators support scheme is a welcome step and must deliver the promised partial business rates relief for airports in England without any further delays. 

“Any delays to these payments will only inflict further pain on an industry that has weathered the greatest challenge it has ever faced without the same levels of support afforded to other sectors. The Government must urgently release the funding for business rates relief and work with our world class aviation industry to agree a full package of recovery measures. 

“We can’t realise our ambitions for a Global Britain without a thriving aviation sector and the consequences of failing to fully support this industry will be felt throughout the whole of the UK.”
